NEW 24-HOUR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CRISIS CENTER

WHERE: Connections Kirkland, 11410 NE 122nd Way, Kirkland, WA 98034

WHAT: A new behavioral health crisis center in Kirkland is now open to provide immediate support for anyone in King County at any time, regardless of insurance coverage.

Connections Kirkland is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and provides a range of services, including walk-in urgent care and short-term stabilization for individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance use emergencies. It has the capacity to care for upwards of 14,000 people each year.

FREE BANKING & FINANCIAL CAREER TRAINING

WHEN: Apply by September 2, 2024. Eight-week course held September 16 – November 8, 2024.

WHAT: Free industry-specific job training for job seekers of all genders who are low income. Strong customer service and sales focus, followed by direct job placement into positions at partner banks and credit unions. Class meets online and in person three days a week — Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays — from 8:30am to 2pm.

Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma/GED and be able to pass a background check.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT PESTS IN YOUR APARTMENT

WHAT: Are you a tenant dealing with an infestation in your rental house or apartment? In this workshop, tenant counselors will let you know:

  • How to deal with different types of infestations.
  • How to report problems to your landlord.
  • What to do if your landlord fails to meet their responsibility to fix the situation.

FREE MEDICAL CARE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS

WHEN:Various times and locations listed below

WHAT:King County’s Mobile Medical Program provides walk-in care for people who are living homeless (or were recently homeless) only. Please try to arrive at least one hour before the scheduled end time for the clinic. On rare occasions the clinic will close earlier than the scheduled time. Call the Mobile Van nursing lines if you would like to confirm the clinic end time for a particular day.

FREE & LOW-COST VETERINARY CARE

WHEN:Various dates and times. See below.

WHAT:Seattle Veterinary Outreach,Washington Health Outreach, andDoney Coe Pet Clinicprovide veterinary care for free or at a reduced cost to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and or living on low incomes.

Veterinary care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place in line.

Services are reserved for those experiencing homelessness or living with a low income, which is verified at clinics. Pet owners should bring their SNAP, EBT, WIC, SSI, or TANF cards. Alternatively, a letter confirming that the pet owner is living in subsidized housing or receiving housing vouchers is also acceptable.

FREE & DISCOUNTED PRESCHOOL IN SEATTLE

WHEN: Classes start in September.

WHAT: If your child is 3 or 4 years old by August 31 and lives in the City of Seattle, they are eligible to enroll in the Seattle Preschool Program. Tuition isbased on household income and family size and most families qualify for free or reduced tuition. Currently nearly 70% of families pay no tuition.

SHORELINE COMMUNITY RESOURCE FAIR

WHAT: Social service providers will be available to help connect attendees with resources such as healthcare, education, legal clinics, and more! Registration not required.

HELP KEEPING KIDS FED THIS SUMMER

WHEN: New SUN Bucks cards will be mailed starting in June. Applications accepted through August 31, 2024.

WHAT: Washington parents may be able to get a little extra help keeping their kids fed this summer thanks to a new program called SUN Bucks.

Under the program, parents will receive $120 per eligible child to spend on food. The money will be loaded onto SUN Bucks cards that will be mailed out starting in June. SUN Bucks are separate from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or any other food benefits you may receive.

Some children will automatically be enrolled in SUN Bucks and others will need to apply. Applications will be accepted through August 31, 2024.

FREE RESTAURANT MEALS FOR YOUTH

WHEN: Through September 1, 2024

WHERE: Designated restaurants in Seattle, including Just Like Home Jamaican Kitchen, Other Coast Cafe, and Taco Street.

WHAT: As part of the All-Youth-Can-Eat program, several Seattle estaurants are providing free meals for kids 18 and under and college students aged 18-24 with college ID during designatedhours. Interested youth must complete the All-Youth-Can-Eat Participation Survey before placing each order.

$200 OFF YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL

WHEN: Applications due by September 15, 2024.

WHAT: If you pay your own electricity bill, you may be eligible for a one-time $200 credit if you meet income requirements. Applying for the credit is quick and easy.

FREE AIR CONDITIONING UNITS

WHAT: You may be able to get a free A/C unit this summer thanks to Byrd Barr’s Energy Assistance programs. To qualify, you must first be approved for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

You may also be able to get help paying energy bills, refilling oil tanks, and repairing or replacing furnaces.
